Final Exam Outline -
General Info:
General Info:
- 100 multiple choice (at most)
- You will be provided a Periodic Table of Elements, list of common polyatomic ions and a formula sheet with all physics formulae and units (eg = V = IR , Units Voltage = Volts (V))
- You will be given the entire class time to complete the exam
- The exam will go into your test section of marks and will be scaled up to 200. In the end it will be worth about 10% of your grade
- Chemistry:
- Properties of chemical families (e.g. alkali metals have an ion charge of +1, very reactive)
- Bohr models for first 20 elements and ions
- Naming and writing formulae
- e.g. - Sodium hydroxide = NaOH
- Magnesium nitrate = Mg(NO3)2
- Carbon tetrafluoride = CF4
- Properties of chemical families (e.g. alkali metals have an ion charge of +1, very reactive)
- Biology:
- Structure of DNA (e.g. nitrogenous bases - adenine, thymine, cytosine, guanine- double helix, sugar-phosphate backbone)
- Differences between mitosis (for growth, repair and reproduction cloning asexually) and meiosis (produces haploid gametes - sperm and egg)
- Structure of DNA (e.g. nitrogenous bases - adenine, thymine, cytosine, guanine- double helix, sugar-phosphate backbone)
- Physics:
- Ohm’s law
- Power calculations
- Finding cost when given Power, time and price/kilowatt*hr
- Series vs Parallel
- Using rules about series, parallel and information to find missing values in the circuit
- Ohm’s law
