In addition to group work we will be creating Pokemon-style trading cards for 5 phyla of invertebrates. These will be due on your test date, tentatively scheduled for April 20th for 2-1 and April 22nd for 1-1. 1. Porifera - Sponges 2. Cnidaria - Jellyfish and Sea Anemones 3. Platyhelminthes - Flatworms 4. Nematoda - Roundworms 5. Annelida - Segmented Worms The format for the next two classes: 1. Watch a Video on a Phylum and answer a video worksheet 2. Independent Work to complete: a) Text Notes for your phylum/phyla b) Text Questions for your phylum/phyla c) Colouring Sheet for your phylum/phyla d) Your Invertebrate Trading Card Project Have an enjoyable night, Ms. McCarron Introduction to AnimalsI hope we enjoyed our introduction into the wonderful world of animals. After we come back we will start our exploration of the animal kingdom with invertebrates.
Over the break please finish you invertebrate vocabulary package and answer the five questions in the 26-1 reading check. I will check them for completion and effort when you return. 2-2: You voted to move your Plant Unit Test to after the break. It will be on Wednesday April 1st 2015 (no that is not a joke). On that day your mind map is also due. Have a wonderful spring break, Ms. McCarron Review ClassWe finished our plant unit today with some notes of co-evolution, pollination and seed dispersal. We then reviewed for the upcoming unit test.
Homework: 1. Mind Map - due on the date of your test (Wednesday March 11th for 1-1 and April 1st for 2-1) 2. Review Package - try this on your own first and then check the answers posted outside of the door Good luck studying, Ms. McCarron Today's classToday we covered the life cycles of seed plants (angiosperms and gymnosperms). We also took a close look at types of pollinators from the "Beauty of Pollination Video". If you would like to watch it again follow this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHkq1edcbk4.
Homework: 1. Gymnosperm Worksheet - answers are now posted on the board outside the classroom Next day will be a review class. 1-1 your test will be on Wednesday March 11th and 2-1 you voted to take the test after spring break so it will be on Wednesday April 1st. Ms. McCarron If you missed the Microscopy Activity ...Below you will find images of microscopic slides for the microscopy activity. You will be drawing the entire cross section (the whole big circle). You will draw a monocot stem, a monocot root, a dicot stem, and a dicot root. You do not have to draw all the ground tissue in detail, just do some areas in detail. Remember to label the drawings! Monocot Stem Cross Section: Monocot Root Cross Section: Dicot Stem Cross Section: Dicot Root Cross Section: I hope this is helpful.
Please get in your microscopy activity ASAP. Ms. McCarron *I do not own any of the rights to the above examples. They were found via a simple google search. Important NoticeBoth Biology 11 classes voted on when they would like to have their plant unit test.
Biology 11: 1-1 Your class voted to keep the test before spring break, on Wednesday March 11th 2015. Biology 11: 2-1 Your class voted to move the test to after Spring Break. It will be on Wednesday April 1st 2015 (it is on the Wednesday so you do not have to have a test first thing back from spring break).
